Benedict @ Dino
Dino is a small cafe-like Italian restaurant in Fort Greene that was pretty empty when we got there about a half hour after opening. It was nice other than the phone playlist that had the mood jumping from relaxing Saturday morning to basically clubbing. But the music wasn't the only thing not flowing right...
Muffin: English muffin. It was appropriately sized for the meat and regular sized egg. The toast level was perfect, but unfortunately never got to stand up to the test of a runny yolk...more on that later.
Score: 3
Non-Egg Protein: Pancetta. Really good, strong flavor that was basically a disc of bacon, which I guess is what pancetta is. It could have been a little bigger to fit the muffin, but also because it was very tasty.
Score: 4
Egg: I think you know what I’m going to say...the eggs were overdone. There was a glimmer of wetness at the very center of one of the eggs, but that was the only hint of any liquidity in these yolks. So unfortunate with such a strong flavored meat.
Score: 4
Sauce: Hollandaise. Very tasty, but so little of it. There was just enough to cover the eggs but such strong flavored meat would have been helped by more hollandaise, especially without the runny yolks.
Score: 3
Sides: Potato wedges, green salad, tomato salad. The potatoes were pretty good, just cooked very unevenly; some were burnt on one side while others could have used another few minutes to roast. The salad had a nice mix of greens and just enough dressing. But that tomato thing was weird and just really oily to the point that oil ran into my muffin and then it was all I could taste. I didn’t really see why it was there at all.
